ACCIONA is looking for its Construction business line a role for managing the Survey Department within the project and represent the company before the Client for survey matters for a Southeast Asian Project.

Job Description

Reporting to the Technical Manager role.
Positions mission:

Manage the Survey Department within the project and represent the company before the Client for survey matters.

Position Duties:
•Participate in development of Survey Department Organizational Chart.
•Collaborate with HR in hiring process of all survey staff.
•Develop procedures and criteria for survey works.

•Participate in decision making regarding methodology and instrumentation to be used during all phases of the project, including proposals or tenders for subcontracted works.

•Analyze initial data received from clients, engineering firm or other third party companies.

•Maintain regular meetings with rest of project departments, to improve overall performance.

•Maintain regular meetings with survey team to supervise and schedule tasks, and check H&S regulation’s compliance.

•Verify the accuracy of survey data including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.

•Search legal records, survey records, and land titles to obtain information about property boundaries in areas to survey.

•Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain.

•Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed as directed by QA/QC requirements as a minimum.

•Perform topographical surveys and calculate quantities for earthworks and other type of project materials, for monthly payments to subcontractors. Maintain organized, clear and accessible records of this work.

•Compute geodetic measurements and interpret survey data to determine positions, shapes, and elevations of geomorphic and topographic features.

•Determine longitudes and latitudes of important features and boundaries in survey areas using theodolites, transits, levels, electronic total stations, and satellite-based global positioning systems (GPS).

•Record the results of surveys including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features.

•Assist the Technical Office Department in the review of project documentation, specially the geometrical aspects of it.

•Collaborate with Technical Office to determine the terms of the contract with the engineering firm, that affects the type, quantity and format of the information required from them, in order to successfully deliver the works in budget and schedule.

•Establish fixed points for use in making maps, using geodetic and engineering instruments.

•Train junior surveyors, assistants and helpers, and direct their work in such activities as performing surveys or drafting maps as needed.

•Comply with the company policies regarding Quality Assurance for survey instruments calibrations and verifications

•Plan and conduct ground surveys during all phases of the project if necessary, using all methodology available in the market, such us LIDAR, laser scanner, use of UAVs, etc…

•Locate and mark sites selected for geophysical prospecting activities such as efforts to locate petroleum or other mineral products.

•Conduct research in surveying and mapping methods using knowledge of techniques of photogrammetric map compilation and electronic data processing.

Required Skills and Competencies

Background required:

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in civil construction in general, with focus on highways, bridges and special structures.
  • Excellent organizational skills with teams of 5 or more members.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to organize and prioritize demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands. With attention to detail
  • Proficient skills in software for Civil Infrastructures design: Civil3D or similar.
  • Knowledge in Survey Network adjustment software.
  • Advanced skills in Excel.
